Mike Grace - saxes and clarinet

Mike has been a professional musician most all of his life. From playing ranch parties and road houses in Texas to touring the world with his trio or quartet Mike has made performing classical and jazz music his passion. Among Mikeʼs most treasured moments in education is being named a Disney-McDonaldʼs Performing Arts Teacher in 1996. And, being named University of Michigan Musical Societyʼs Educator Of The Year, the year after retiring from the Ann Arbor, Michigan, Public Schools make these two honors highlights of his professional life. Among the many performers Mike has had the great fortune to perform with are Dave Brubeck, Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Tormeʼ, Rob  McConnell, Roger Williams, Urbie Green, Billy Taylor, Clark Terry, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Henry Mancini, Jimmy Forrest, Peter Appleyard, Randy Brecker, Rosemary Clooney, Sonny Stitt.

Chris Cigolea - trumpet
As a musician and conductor Chris has recorded and performed on stage with numerous other great musicians from all over the world. His repertoire ranges from blues and jazz to classical, baroque to folk and also includes popular music. The majority of his professional experience has revolved around education and performance. Currently, Chris is the Founder and Director of the C.I.G. School of The Performing Arts from Guelph Ontario, Founder of the Focsani Blues Festival in Romania, Music Director and Conductor for Guelph Concert Band and Music Director at St. John's Kilmarnock High School, among other positions. His trumpet solo album "Tribute To An Idol" was recognized in 2006 by the Juno Awards Committee as one of the best Solo Classical Albums in Canada.

Steve James - drums
Steve from Hamilton, has been playing drums since he was 6 years of age. His flexibility for playing many styles of music has been evident as he is currently playing with the group Backroom 11 which is a tribute band to classic soul/funk and R+B. He has also played with the Stardust Big Band for 18 years. Steve is currently teaching a brand new music program in Hamilton and teaches drums privately on the side. He has also had the pleasure of being the drum instructor for the Southampton summer jazz program for 12 years.

Art Lang  - double bass 
Art is a visitor to both the classical and jazz music worlds. He is currently a member of Guelph Symphony Orchestra, the Wellington Winds Symphony,
the Waterloo Chamber Players, the Stratford Symphony, the Can-Am orchestra and numerous jazz groups performing a range of styles from swing music to "free" jazz.

John McLelland - piano
As an educator John retired after a successful 30 year career as a Secondary School Music Specialist, the last 19 years at Bluevale Collegiate in Waterloo. He received The Stewart Award for teaching excellence in 2007. As a performer, John has performed with many of Canada’s top jazz musicians including Phil Nimmons, Rob McConnell, Rick Wilkins, Ted Warren, Peter Appleyard, Heather Bambrick, Trish Coulter, Dave McMurdo, Mike Malone, Duncan Hopkins and others. His Phoenix Jazz Group’s debut CD release “Extensions” is currently enjoying a 10 month run on Jazz FM 91.1 in Toronto. He has run jazz clinics for community organizations, teacher development days and adjudicated at several festivals.

Georgian Sound Big Band

The Georgian Sound Big Band provides musicians with the opportunity to share their love of music, to perform events for the benefit and enjoyment of our community, and to encourage young musicians to continue their interest in music and performance.

The Georgian Sound Big Band was formed in 1988 by Bob Cringan. This enthusiastic band presents a wide variety of danceable music including waltz, tango, and Latin rhythms using many of Bob's fine arrangements. Under the leadership of trumpeter Don Doner and conducted by trombonist Brad Crawford, the Band now swings to favourites from the big band era to the present decade, much to the delight of an expanding audience.




Skyliners Big Band

Formed in August 1993, the Skyliners’ Big Band is a favourite with both dancing and listening audiences.  Comprised of 17 top musicians and the dazzling vocalist Maria Branje, the band performs the big band era favourites by Miller, Shaw, Herman, Basie, Ellington, Kenton as well as more contemporary hits. With hundreds of well-rehearsed songs in the book, the Skyliners’ Big Band has the selection to keep everyone dancing and listening long into the night.  The band has the talent, experience and professionalism to ensure that your event, whether a dance, concert or corporate function, is a musical success. Simply stated, “These cats can swing!”

David Wipper (guitars, mandolin)
David has a solid background in recording and concert performance. You can hear his distinctive style on the Grammy Award winning hit song Black Velvet, and many others. Recording highlights include: Alannah Myles (platinum), Amanda Marshall (platinum), Dan Hill (Platinum), Rita Coolidge, Lulu, Marc Jordan, Robert Priest, country artist Sarah Smith, VoiceStrings & Melody Fair.

Sherri Jackson (vocals, rhythm guitar)
Sherri has performed solo and with various groups as lead and harmony vocals and rhythm guitar over the past 30 years. Most recently she headed String Theory and The Ecclectix, and developed a loyal following in the Georgian Bay area. She is the founder and director of an independent elementary school focused on music and the arts.

Hazel Wipper (vocals, percussion)
Hazel began singing in folk festivals with Jesse, placing second in an Ontario-wide contest. She and David gained public acclaim in Toronto with The Decades. Hazel is also vocalist for VoiceStrings and Melody Fair.

Glenn Hoag (bass)
Glenn has played bass with many groups over the years, from jazz to pop, classic rock and blues. Most recently he worked with locally acclaimed band String Theory, and The Ecclectix. Glenn brings a solid groove to Full Circle's classic hit list.
